"Remote Account Opening Service" allows Hong Kong Non-Permanent Residents or Mainland Chinese visitors in Hong Kong to open Multi-Currency Savings Account, Time Deposit Account, Internet Banking, Chong Hing Card (ATM Card), Consolidated Statement (e-Statement) and Investment Account of Chong Hing Bank Limited (“Chong Hing Bank” or the “Bank”) through Chong Hing Mobile Banking App. The set up process is fast and simple.
Your mobile device should support the iOS version 12.0 or above, or the Android version 6.0 or above; and equip with front and back cameras in order to complete the identity verification.
First, please download our latest Chong Hing Mobile Banking App. Click "Open Account" button on the main page, read through the service details and proceed to the account opening process. Please ensure your mobile device is equipped with front and back cameras in order to complete the identity verification and document upload.
Chong Hing Mobile Banking’s -"Remote Account Opening Service" enables you to apply accounts and services listed below:
- Multi-Currency Savings Account
- Time Deposit Account
- Internet Banking
- Chong Hing Card (ATM Card)
- Consolidated Statement (e-Statement)
- Investment Account (optional)
To be eligible to apply for the “Remote Account Opening Service” via Chong Hing Mobile Banking, you must fit the following criteria:
- A new-to-bank customer
- Aged 18 or above
- Holder of valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card/Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID) (Support smart HKID introduced from 2003 and 2018) or Mainland Chinese Resident Identity Card (PRCID)
- Non-U.S. tax resident
- Provide a valid mobile phone number in Hong Kong or in Mainland China
- Provide a valid residential address and correspondence address in Hong Kong or in Mainland China
- Provide a valid email address
- Provide a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
If you do not fit these criteria, you can visit any branch of the Bank in person for account opening.

Yes. If you are a Hong Kong Non-Permanent Resident or a Mainland Chinese visitor in Hong Kong, please furnish us with additional identification documents, such as the Hong Kong Non-Permanent Resident Identity Card or a Mainland Chinese Resident Identity Card and provide a valid Exit/Entry Permit for Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macau or passport information, you can apply for the “Remote Account Opening Service”.
To open a savings account via “Remote Account Opening Service”, there is no need to upload an address proof. However, if you open an investment account at the same time, , after the successful submission of the savings account application, you are required to upload a valid address proof issued within the last 3 months during or after the application process for the investment account so as to complete the application process.

Taking photos of both sides of your ID help us to validate your ID card, so that you do not need to visit our branch in person for identity verification. The lighting may affect system’s ability to verify the identity document, please ensure there is no reflection or shadow, and the ID captured is clear and not out of focus. Some factors, including the environment where you take the photos of your ID, e.g. scratches in your ID, damaged ID, etc., may affect the accuracy of identifying your selfie photo against the photo in your ID. If your ID card cannot be verified due to above factors, please visit any branch of the Bank in person for the account opening application.
AI is utilised by identity verification service providers to detect anti-counterfeiting feature on ID cards, and facial recognition technology will be employed to authenticate the identity of applicants. This includes conducting verification on ID templates, ID material quality, and detecting any forgery attempt on key information. The AI also uses facial recognition technology to confirm the presence of a real person, including detection of blinks, and performs risk control for repeated attempts. The verification result returned by service provider takes into consideration of AI judgment.
This helps us to verify that you are the holder of the identity card and whether the application is made by yourself so that you can complete your identity verification without coming to our branches.
If you have Jurisdiction of Residence of other countries, you are required to provide relevant Jurisdiction of Residence and Taxpayer Identification Number.If you cannot provide the relevant TIN, you may not be capable to open an account.
Your application information will be automatically stored after the confirmation of ID information. The application can be resumed within 30 days. After 30 days of your application, such incomplete application will be cancelled and you need to submit your application again.
If you leave after confirming the ID information, you can resume the application via the Cong Hing Mobile Banking App. You can click “Open Account” at main page and click “Resume Application” to complete the application by using the same mobile device that you first make the application. To resume the application, you have to input the ID Card number, mobile phone number and one-time password (OTP) for verification.
If you leave after confirming the ID information and resume your application on other mobile devices, the pervious application information will not be retained and you are required to start the application process again.
Yes. All the information you provide, including your ID photos, selfies and personal information, ATM card password that you have set, will be encrypted throughout the transmission.
If you leave during the investment account opening process, the application information will not be stored automatically. You are not able to resume the application via the “Remote Account Opening Service”. Therefore, we recommend that you complete the application of investment account in one go. If you do not immediately apply for an investment account after submitting a savings account application, you cannot open an investment account by the “Remote Account Opening Service” again. However, you can still apply for an investment account by logging into the Chong Hing Mobile Banking App by clicking “Investment” on the main page then selecting “Open Investment Account”, after successfully activated the Internet Banking Service.
You have to upload a valid address proof, acceptable address proof are as follows:
- Public utilities bills issued within the last 3 months
- Statements issued by the regulated financial institution within the last 3 months
- Mobile phone or pay TV bills issued within the last 3 months
After you have successfully submitted the application, you will receive email and SMS notification.
Yes. After submitting your application by using Mainland Chinese Resident Identity Card (PRCID), you must bring the original PRC in person to our branch to complete the identity verification process.
To check the status of your account opening, you can open the Chong Hing Mobile Banking App, click the “Open Account” button on the main page, then select “Status Query”.
In general, we will review your application within 4 working days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) after your submission of application, and notify you with your account opening status by email and SMS. You can also open the “Chong Hing Mobile Banking” App, click “Open Account” on the main page, and then select “Status Query” to check the status of account opening.
Once your receive the email and SMS confirming successful account opening for your savings account, your investment account application will generally be processed within 3 working days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays), and you will be notified of the successful opening of your investment account via email and SMS notification. You can also open the Chong Hing Mobile Banking App, click “Open Account” on the main page, then select “Status Query” to check the status of investment account opening.
If you have submitted the application and opened the accounts successfully, your accounts are ready for use immediately. We will send you SMS and email notification. You may log in to Internet Banking/Mobile Banking to check your account number. We will review your application information within 4 working days, after that, you can enjoy the full function of Internet Banking and Mobile Banking Services.
After successful account opening, you can log in to the Internet Banking/Mobile Banking to check the account details. You can make a deposit using any of the methods below:
- Transfer funds from another bank account through the Faster Payment System
- Deposit a cheque or cash at any branch of the Bank

After the Internet Banking/Mobile Banking Service have been successfully activated, we will send you SMS and email notification, and you may log in to the Internet Banking/Mobile Banking immediately with the username and password of the Internet Banking.
You can log in to the Internet Banking/Mobile Banking to enjoy various banking services, including fund transfer, currency exchange, and placing fixed deposits, etc. If you wish to enjoy more banking services, please visit our branches in person with your ID documents and provide your signature image to handle the relevant applications.
For the purpose of addressing your enquiry, if your application is rejected after submission, the Bank will retain your application information for 30 days. Such record will be automatically deleted by the system after 30 days.
Chong Hing Card will be dispatched upon the account is successfully opened. In general, the Chong Hing Card will be mailed to your correspondence address within 1-2 week(s).
